This task is designed to introduce students to referencing and ethical use of materials. It requires the teacher to develop a paragraph containing secondary and primary sources with no references or punctuation (quotation marks). The students are given the paragraph and extracts of the texts from which the quotations and paraphrases are taken. Individually or in groups, they need to ensure the paragraph is referenced correctly and completely. This would need to be done in class with introductory discussion of referencing and a reading of university/discipline referencing guide.
