Critical resources

To prepare for an essay on a literary text, students are given a tutorial conducted by library staff in locating critical material on literary studies in the library, which includes a competitive exercise of locating a number of identified resources (databases, books, articles, etc.) One of those identified resources is then used to formulate the essay question, and students are required to engage with it in some capacity in order to be able to answer the essay question. This is a complex task at first year and can either be done as the final essay task for the semester, or reduced in complexity by addressing the critical article/resource only in the assessment.
