Development case study (fracking/mining)

In this tutorial students work in collaborative groups of mixed abilities (4-5)

Students are provided with a case study

Each group is given a different perspective on the case study e.g. local community, government, development, miners etc. Groups are provided with 20 minutes to research the topic using internet research websites to determine a position on the topic

Groups then allocate roles to each member (presenter, scribe, researcher etc.)

Each group will then present their argument using appropriate technology.

The exercise can be used to inform future assessment tasks.
